Trainer Course in Rigging Safety
(UCSD 9030)

Basic rigging principles, safety requirements, and key considerations for safe rigging will be reviewed in this four-day course.  Students participating in this course will be able to identify the appropriate safety regulations and national consensus standards for rigging and material handling, identify the rigging hazards found in the workplace, and inspect slings and rigging for common damage.  Extensive use of hands-on techniques will be highlighted during this course.  Included in this class are practical training techniques and a field trip.

Recommended Prerequisites: Participants should have completed the OSHA 510 or OSHA 511 course or equivalent 30 hour federal OSHA standards course. Basic math skills are necessary.


Required Equipment:
Personal calculator and safety shoes and appropriate clothing for field exercise.

You will take home course materials that highlight the OSHA, ASME and manufacturer’s literature.

Time: 8:00 am-4:30 pm
Travel plans must accomodate the 4:30 end time.
