We are a division of
the
UC San Diego- Extension
Established by the U.S. Department of Labor, the OSHA Training
Institute at UCSD, was one of four original Occupational Training and Education Centers (OTIECs).
We offer high quality, standards-based OSHA training in California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii. Since 1992, many thousands of safety and
health professionals have attended our courses and earned our Professional Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.
Our instructors are
highly qualified professionals who teach OSHA Construction and General Industry standards using real world experience. Students leave the classroom prepared to apply the standards in their work place.
Students from across the United States and
overseas travel to attend our courses in Region IX. Courses are offered in the following locations:
- Phoenix and Tucson, AZ
- San Diego, Los Angeles, Irvine, Sacramento, San Francisco and Monterey, CA
- Honolulu, HI
- Las Vegas and Reno, NV
We also offer on-site
training for companies who have groups of people who need
training.

Trainer Courses
When you complete a U.S.
Department of Labor 'Trainer Course' (OSHA
500 or OSHA 501) you will be authorized to conduct both 10 and 30-hour
compliance courses and issue OSHA course
completion cards to students. These courses require completion of either the OSHA 510 or OSHA 511 and five years of relate safety experience. |

such as Exxon, San Diego Gas & Electric and Intel and federal
agencies such as the United States Marine Corps, the Federal
Aviation Administration, the Immigration & Naturalization Service

Course Credit
You will earn CEUs for our
courses to satisfy the continuing education requirements for many
professional certifications. You will also have the opportunity to
earn Extension Academic Credit which can be applied to our Professional Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.
