You are authorized as an outreach trainer for four years from the date that you completed the trainer course (courses 500, 501, 502, or 503).

To maintain your authorization status, you must take an update course every four years. This is true whether you have trained students or not.

• OSHA 502 - Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers
• OSHA 503 - Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers

You may also retake the trainer course:

• OSHA 500 - Trainer Course for the Construction Industry (OSHA 500)
• OSHA 501 - Trainer Course for General Industry (OSHA 501)

Do the 10 and 30 Hour Construction and General Industry cards expire?
No, they do not have an expiration date. The form and content of additional training is left to the discretion of the student and/or employer. The Outreach Training Program is intended as an orientation to safety.
 

Can I take the trainer update courses without first taking the trainer courses?
No. The update courses are only open to people who have previously taken the OSHA 500 or OSHA 501 Trainer Courses.
 

I don't want to become a trainer, but I want to learn about the OSHA Standards. What are my options?
OSHA 510 - OSHA Standards for the Construction Industry is designed for students who do not plan to become trainers.

OSHA 511 - OSHA Standards for General Industry is designed for students who do not plan to become trainers.
