UCSD Credit
Due to the academic integrity of the Professional Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, most courses now offered at the UCSD OSHA Training Institute are scheduled for "ACADEMIC CREDIT" in addition to "CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS" (CEUs).  Each course includes a final exam, which is given at the end of each class.
CEU Credit
Many organizations offer some form of continuing education credit, but only the IACET CEU is held to the strict, research-based IACET Criteria and Guidelines for Continuing Education and Training. Only IACET Authorized Providers, who undergo a strict evaluation by continuing education peers, can award the IACET CEU. IACET Authorized Providers are required to re-apply and be reauthorized every five (5) years.

The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) was created by IACET as a measurement of continuing education. One (1) IACET CEU is equal to ten (10) contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. Under IACET's care, the IACET CEU has evolved from a quantitative measure to a hallmark of quality training and instruction.  Visit IACET online.

ABIH Credit
The American Board of Industrial Hygiene offers "Certification Maintenance" points for specific courses, which have been registered by the OSHA Training Institute Region IX Education Center.  For questions regarding Approval Numbers for UCSD, please call (858) 964-1056.
BCSP Credit
The Board of Certified Safety Professionals offers "Continuance of Certification" points.  This can be calculated at the student's own discretion.  For every CEU, Continuing Education Unit, one COC is awarded.
